Nina Hut, Lewis Pass

This was supposed to be Otehake Hot Springs, but another NW weather system had us changing plans to a mellow walk into Nina Hut, followed by Hotsprings in Hamner on the way home.

The walk in was under light rain, keeping us cool for the 3 hour stroll. I managed to forget all the yummy vegetables that I’d bought for the curry, but it still tasted good! Pip made some mulled wine to go with the crackers, cheese and dip. All very fancy really…

Next morning dawned clear, making for a very pleasant stroll back to the car. We stopped at one of the gorge sections for lunch, where we spied three very large (8lb plus) Trout cruising around in the depths.

It just started to rain as we hopped into the car for the ride home.

Trig M, Korowai Torless TLP

Steph and I both had the day off, but were both feeling pretty tired, so opted for a mellow stroll rather than a full on day.

Trig M was a neat little stroll along an old 4WD track. We started up through the clouds and as we climbed the views began to unfold. The Craigieburn range to the north, Torless to the East, Big Ben to the South, Mt Hutt range to the west and even the Port hills could be seen.

Took us an hour each way to the trig from the rd. A brilliant easy walk, not far from town with fantastic views.
