Lima, Peru

Another straighforward journey from BA through to our Hostel in Lima. We stayed in the touristy ´Miraflores´area of town, which was modern, clean and felt pretty safe (other than for the traffic, which was mental..)

Went for a wander round town trying to find a replacement sleeping mat for the one Steph had left behind (oops). Inadvertantly found ourselves in an archeological site, a huge temple thing built by the Lima´s (a tribe around at a similar time to the Inka´s).

Got ourselves a ticket for the bus ride to Huaraz ( 8hrs, $15) up in the mountains. The ride itself was a little scary for a ´narrow road with big drop offs´ wus like me, but overall it wasn´t too bad. On the way out of time, we passed through the ´real´ Lima, with all manner of slums and muck. During the bus ride, they played Peruvian folk music rather loud, with one CD on repeat for the whole trip. Considered stabbing myself in the eyes with a fork, but couldn´t find one...
